  1. Tri-fold a piece of computer paper • Copy on top flap… • Energy – the ability to make things move Energy Flipbook

  2. Open left flap and copy on the right flap… The Law of Conservation of Energy • Energy cannot be made. • Energy cannot be destroyed. • Energy is transferred from one form to another Potential Kinetic

  3. The Law of Conservation of Energy • Energy can be neither created nor destroyed. However, It can be transferred from one form to another. • Thus, when the water at the top of the waterfall plunges over the edge, potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.

  4. Plate Tectonics • The ground is broken into different plates (pieces) that float on lava. Where they meet are called geologic faults. • The movement of these plates causes earthquakes, mountains, and island formation.

  5. As plates push against each other potential energy builds. • When these plates move or break the energy is released as kinetics energy.

  6. Potential and Kinetic Energy Concept Map • Included Words: Energy, Potential, Kinetic, Mass, Speed, Height • Included Definitions: Energy, Potential, Kinetic • Included Illustrations: for Kinetic and Potential • Included examples: 3 for Potential and 3 for Kinetic • All bubbles need to be connected in the appropriate manner, they work in partners and put in lab notebook and partners must make a big poster size copy of their concept map to present their understanding of the words. • 5pts for each word, definition, example, illustration, connection, and presentation, and names on poster to be turned in.
