  5. “Life” – page 793 • Life - amuses an infant, but an old man grows tired of it and is relieved when it stops • Life is fascinating when you're very young, but you lose interest in it as you grow older • Expresses discouragement about loss of interest in life as age progresses • Symbolism: clock = life
