5 DECADES PROMAX ELECTRONICA PROMAX 50th ANNIVERSARY (1963 – 2013) For half a century now, PROMAX has been on the vanguard in the design and production of test and measurement instruments. Evolution of TV Explorer family In 2005, the first TV Explorer, caused an amazing marketrevolution. It was then followed by 5 models, which were the logical evolution of this model.
A good investment for many years • The first TV Explorer was on the market for 9 years. • At the beginning of 2014, the TV Explorer was discontinued. • During its lifetime, the price of the instrument remained unchanged.
Always one step further - DVB-T2 • DVB-T is the DVB European consortium standard for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television that was first published in 1997. • In March 2006 DVB decided to study options for an upgraded DVB-T standard. A formal study group named TM-T2 (Technical Module on Next Generation DVB-T) was established to develop an advanced modulation scheme that could be adopted by a second generation digital terrestrial television standard, to be namedDVB-T2. • The DVB-T2 draft standard was ratified by the DVB Steering Board on June, 2008.It was then handed over to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The ETSI process resulted in the DVB-T2 standard being adopted on September, 2009.
Always one step further - DVB-T2 • At the very end of 2009, the TV EXPLORER HD+, which was the first worldwidehigh definition TV analyser with DDP decoder and total compatibility with DVB-T2 appeared on the market.
Always one step further - DVB-C2 • DVB-C is the standard for the broadcast transmission of digital television over cable. This system transmits an MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 family digital audio/digital video stream, using a QAM modulation with channel coding. The standard was first published by the ETSI in 1994. • On February 2008 it was announced that a new standard DVB-C2 would be developed during 2008. Proposals including simulation programs and information on patent rights were submitted in June, 2008. • After exhaustive evaluation, the final DVB-C2 specification was approved by the DVB Steering Board in April 2009.
Always one step further - DVB-C2 DVB-C2 for TV EXPLORER HD+ • DVB-C2 employs the most powerful coding techniques and modulation schemes. • The first field tests show that DVB-C2 will allow 50% more digital transmission bandwidth than DVB-C. • In 2010, the TV EXPLORER HD+was once again the first worldwidehigh definition TV analyser with total compatibility with DVB-C2.
Always one step further - DVB-T2 LITE • The main objective of the project is to study and promote the benefits of using DVB-T2 technology in mobile television reception applications and the particularities of its implementation in VHF band. • DVB-T2-Lite is a subset of the DVB-T2 standard with some improvement for mobile reception. • This is done through a modification of the DVB-T2 standard introduced in 2011 under the name of T2-Lite.
Always one step further - DVB-T2 LITE • At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) PROMAX introduced the HDRANGER+, the first field strength meter of its kind which is effectively able to receive, measure and demodulate T2-Lite signals.

This high resolution display allows functions such as the triple split display, so all data can be read sharp and clear.

HD RANGER the next generation field analyser Constellation diagram With the HD RANGER+ it is possible to display constellations for DVB-T/T2, DVB-C/C2, and DVB-S/S2 • The constellation diagram is a graphic representation (called I-Q) of the digital symbols received over a period of time.
HD RANGER the next generation field analyser LTE filter & activity graph • The HD RANGER has a special function that allows to compare the signal reception quality on digital TV channels with and without the LTE filter. • Large number of frequency bands allocated to LTE are near or inside TV bands. • Special functions to help installers to anticipate potential interference problems.

HD RANGER the next generation field analyser • Installation manager • Create a container file for each field work and associate with it all the measurements, screen captures, channel tables, etc. • Information can be shared among various HD RANGER - interesting for companies operating large work crews. • All the data can be downloaded to a PC or USB, to be included in printed reports.
HD RANGER the next generation field analyser Datalogger The datalogger (automatic measurements adquisition and storing) is a classic function available in HD RANGER. The instrument includes a configuration wizard that helps you complete this process fast and easy. • Just run the application and the instrument will take all the measurements automatically: Channel power, C/N, BER, MER, etc...
HD RANGER the next generation field analyser • IRG or SATIRG (Interference Reduction Group) • HD RANGER field strength meters are compatible with IRG recommendations and they can extract the Carrier ID information and display it conveniently showing all the details. HD RANGER the next generation field analyser Dynamic echoes analysis An essential function in DVB-T, DVB-T2 and recently in DVB-C2. The information about the various echoes received at the test point is displayed on a screen (power, distance, delay , etc.). • Merogram and Spectrogram • Developed to allow an early identification of intermittent and sporadic problems that may only happen in limited periods of time.
HD RANGER the next generation field analyser Measuring and decoding DVB-S2 multistream It is now possible to measure and decode multistream channels with HD RANGER+ • In DVB-S2/C2/T2 standards it is possible to aggregate independent transport streams into one single RF carrier that is commonly referred to as multistream. Each individual TS is identified by its ISI (Input Stream Identifier) and can be recovered transparently on the receiver side.
HD RANGER the next generation field analyser PLS - Physical Layer Scrambling HDRANGER+and HDRANGER 2are compatible with this type of signals. • PLS is used in DVB-S2. A number called the "scrambling sequence index" is used by the modulator as a master key to generate the uplink. This number must be known by the receiver so that demodulation is possible.

Revolution by PROMAX HDMI Interface • The HD RANGER 2 includes a HDMI output to interface with other HD equipment. Everything what can be seen on the screen is available through the HDMI. Transport stream input and output HD RANGER 2 can monitor and analyse TS coming from sat-receivers, TS players, multiplexers, etc. TS received by the HD Ranger 2 to feed signal to other devices.
Revolution by PROMAX Common Interface The HD RANGER 2 includes a CI slot that allows interfacing with CAM modules available in the market for decoding encrypted channels.
Revolution by PROMAX Real-time transport stream analysis function The TS analyzer provides all the metadata in the PSI/SI tables, and an alarm list warning about any possible failure in the TS layer according to the TR 101 290 DVB measurement guidelines.
Revolution by PROMAX IPTV signal demodulation The HD Ranger 2 allows the reception of TV coming from IPTV networks. The programmes and service information can be displayed on the screen of the instrument. • Measurements on IPTV signals • The HD Ranger 2 gives the possibility to identify and correct the problems that can be found in these new type of TV distribution networks.
