Beta Particle • A beta particle is a high energy electron. • Travels at near the speed of light (faster than ordinary electrons) • Can penetrate the skin, causes a sunburn-like effect, but slower to heal.
Gamma Radiation 00Ɣ • Gamma Radiation -- not made of particles • High energy electromagnetic waves • Travels at the speed of light • Similar to X-Rays, very penetrating
