Syllabus and Policies • Supplies: • Pencil and pens • Scientific Calculator • On Line Textbook • Tablet • Grading: • 60%, 30%, 10% • Retakes: TESTS ONLY • Tutoring is required in order to retake test. • Late work: • Homework/Minor Grades: 50% off after 2 days late. • Major grades other than tests: 10% off each day for 3 days. Not accepted after the 3rd day late.

Even if I know you. • Classroom decorum • Politeness and Respect • Preparedness • Honesty • See and Do!!!! • Don’t sharpen pencils when I am speaking • No restroom use during lecture/notes • Restroom Policy • Put stuff away (chairs, lab supplies, trash) • This is not a restaurant. NO FOOD or DRINKS • Don’t lose your papers • Stay seated until I dismiss you • I have high expectations for you this year!

This is what I will do for you…. • Awesome lectures • Relevant labs • Website support • Tutoring, Make Ups, Retakes: Tuesday & Wednesday after school (2:30-3:30) Daily, before school (7:10-7:25) Other days and times by appointment. Never Thursday after School
Finally • Test days are Monday or Wednesday • I am not available on Thursday after school. This is when the Physics department meets.

Precision vs. Accuracy • Measure the width of the room in feet • Estimate the distance in receipt tape with as much precision as possible.
Precise • The ability of a measurement to be consistently reproduced. • Exactness • NOT necessarily “Accurate”
Accurate • The condition of being true, correct, or exact. • The extent to which a measurement agrees with the standard value for that measurement. • Free from defect or error.
So, what is the width of the room? • Approximately 30 feet
