Nebraska Death Filing Times—Background Information The following slides represent calendar days (statute states that records are to be filed within 5 business days, therefore 7 calendar days represents 5 business days). Two counties have local registration, Douglas and Lancaster which represents Omaha and Lincoln (43% of the deaths). In 2009, 11.3% of the records were filed totally electronic. State Registration represents the remaining 91 counties. In 2009, 28.7% of the records were filed totally electronic. The State office is in Lincoln. Electronic Registration began in 2006.
