Velocity

Velocity. Velocity is the measure of the amount of distance covered over a certain period of time in a certain direction. We represent Velocity with a capital V. The formula for velocity is d V = T Where d = displacement And T = time.

  1. Velocity

  2. Velocity is the measure of the amount of distance covered over a certain period of time in a certain direction. We represent Velocity with a capital V.

  3. The formula for velocity is d V = T Where d = displacement And T = time

  4. You can solve for velocity when you are given a certain displacement and time. • For example: Johnny runs 13 miles West in .75 hours. What was his velocity? d13 mi West V = t V = .75 hours displacement = 13 miles West Time = .75 hours

  5. If you are given velocity you can solve for distance or time.

  6. Solve for displacement or time is easy when you use a formula triangle. d V = t d t V

  7. When you cover V you have the formula d/t d t V

  8. To find the formula for displacement, you cover the d and you have the formula v x t So… d = vt d t V

  9. To solve for time, you cover the t and get the formula d/V. So t = d/V d t V

  10. Lets do some practice problems……..
