Duty to God The Doctrine of the Aaronic Priesthood
“Just as the Aaronic Priesthood is an appendage to the Melchizedek Priesthood, so is Scouting an appendage to that very Aaronic Priesthood…..and not the other way around”. The Doctrine of the Aaronic Priesthood And Scouting
“Upon you my fellow servants, in the name of Messiah, I confer the Priesthood of Aaron, which priesthood holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; and this shall never be taken again from the earth until the sons of Levi do offer again an offering unto the Lord in righteousness”. The Doctrine of the Aaronic Priesthood

Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • Is there any question why the Lord had this Church in 1913 associate with the premier outdoor organization in the world – the Boy Scouts of America?
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • How can we strengthen the Aaronic Priesthood if we don’t know well, ourselves, the doctrine of the priesthood?
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • The doctrine of the priesthood does apply to young men receiving the Aaronic Priesthood. In D&C 20, verse 53, the Lord explains, “The teacher’s duty is to watch over the church always, and be with and strengthen them”….Brother Beck asked us to substitute “Family” for “Church” in that verse. A young man CAN effectively watch over his own family as well as the families he home teaches.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • The doctrine of the priesthood must distill upon the souls of young men just as soon as they receive it. We must prepare them effectively in Primary to receive it properly when they turn 12.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • Purge the Church of the thinking that Duty to God must be done before young men are 14, 16 or 18. It is a process that we are all involved in, as priesthood holders – it is experiential. Lessons learned early in life last long. Duty to God is a method of travel – a way of living….. it is not a destination, or a list to be checked-off.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • Duty to God is an all-hands-on-deck moment – for parents, advisers, bishoprics, and stake presidencies. You are losing too many young men! Do not rest until you have done all in your power to save every young man in your sphere of influence. Young men need to know of your desire to submit to the Lord in all things. I’m challenging you to know and understand Duty to God in ways you have not until now.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • The Church takes off when the doctrine of the priesthood sinks deep into the hearts of your young men. Too low a percentage of young men serve missions.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • Purge the Church of the thinking that bishops should just get the adults taken care of and we can then focus on the Aaronic Priesthood. No, we cannot do that anymore. Bishoprics, take care of your Aaronic Priesthood – turn your keys right now – the adults will just have to figure it out on their own. Your keys pertain to your Aaronic Priesthood holders.
Guidance from the General Young Men’s Presidency • The doctrine of the priesthood pertains to fatherhood – becoming good husbands and fathers. It begins by being good sons and brothers in our own families while young.
