What are violent crimes? Group work task and discussion. In a group share ideas and opinions on what violent crimes are and record them on flipchart to discuss them as a group.
Violent Crimes are : The definition of violent crime suggests that violence is a behavior by persons, against persons or property that intentionally threatens, attempts, or actually inflicts physical harm. The seriousness of the injuries to the victim(s), whether or not guns or other weapons were used and/or whether or not the alleged perpetrator has a criminal record will alter the crime's seriousness. Followed closely by 12 year old Kamilah Penniston who was shot by her own brother.
Luke Walmsley 14year old, stabbed in school while chatting to his friends.
18 year old mother of one Samantha Madgin, stabbed to death for trying to break up a fight.

A survey was done with 4,715 pupils in school and 687 excluded pupils aged 11-16 and were asked "If they had carried or used a weapon... Like a gun or knife": 28% of children in schools and 57% that were excluded said they have carried a knife in the last year 9% of school children and 30% of excluded said they carried a flick knife (which is illegal) 3% in school and 14% excluded said they used a knife against another person 3% in school and 21% excluded said they had threatened another person with a weapon More school children who carried a knife were victimised than those who didn't carry one 62% of children who were excluded were a victim carried a knife compared with the 51% who didn't 15% of children in schools felt "a bit" or "very unsafe" according to the Youth Justice Board
