  2. RENEW Los Angeles County LA County Department of Public Health’s (DPH) RENEW initiative (Renew Environments for Nutrition, Exercise, and Wellness) seeks to improve nutrition, increase physical activity and reduce obesity in Los Angeles County

Policy, Systems and Environmental Change • Department of Public Health & School District Partnerships • Promote, adopt and implement the National Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) school meal nutrition recommendations during the 2011-12 year • IOM recommendations include limits on calories, fat and salt, and increased fruits and vegetables • Los Angeles Unified School District, ABC Unified School District, El Monte Union High School District and Long Beach Unified School District • California Food Policy Advocates and the Urban Environmental Policy Institute • School Nutrition Policy Webinar Series

Webinar Learning Objectives • Understand how research-based marketing strategies can be used to increase overall participation in your district’s cafeterias • Identify cost-effective marketing strategies to increase sales of specific healthy items • Hear from food service directors who have successfully changed the image of school food in their districts
