2. The Mission Assist the local Christian Community to open three to five life-saving, life-changing pregnancy resource centers in the neediest neighborhoods of Miami over the next two years.

3. Pregnancy Resource Centers…. While some in the pro-life movement labor to make abortion unlawful; the pregnancy center movement works to make abortion unnecessary.

4. Pregnancy Centers… A national movement • There are currently over 2,300 pregnancy resource centers in America • They are run by Christians, supported by Christians • Organized to advance six Core Values

5. Core Values… • The Supremacy of the Gospel • The Dignity of Women • The Sanctity of Human Life • The Irreplaceable Value of Fathers • The Soundness of Sexual Purity, Marriage and Family • The Transforming Power of Neighborly Love

6. Pregnancy Resource Centers…. • Reach out to women considering abortion due to their difficult circumstances

7. Pregnancy Resource Centers…. Provide abortion-vulnerable women a free ultrasound and a medical consultation.

8. PRC’s Equipped With Ultrasound Nationwide, 79% of women considering abortion, when provided and ultrasound and practical help, change their minds or learn it is not needed. “I am going to have an abortion, unless God gives me a sign!” (Her ultrasound revealed a 16 week healthy baby.) “I think I just got my sign!”

9. Pregnancy Resource Centers… Provide… • Continuous practical help and friendship • Parent preparation classes and/or adoption support • Post Abortion Bible Studies

10. Pregnancy Resource Centers…. How could I ever have thought of aborting this baby! He changed my life. Before I was just self-absorbed. My baby has made me a better person. AWC has changed my life. Thank you God! Save mothers and babies from the violence of abortion. Through all of this we’ve both changed. R.’s my best friend and a wonderful father. You should see him with Dylan together, it’s a riot. A wedding is in the future. We are a family! I have learned to pray and to seek God in so many wonderful ways. If it wasn’t for AWC I don’t know where we would be today!

12. BUT…Pregnancy Centers face a challenge… For the last 30 years, it has been mainly local churches in the suburbs and small towns of America that have open Pregnancy Centers

13. Abortion Facilities are… Consolidating to the cities • Planned Parenthood closed 17 abortion facilities in 2004. • Planned Parenthood sold 20% more abortions. How?

14. Abortion Facilities are Targeting Minorities • Black American Women make up 12% of the population, but account for 36% of all abortions • Latino American Women make up 13% of the population but account for 20% of all abortions • Currently, 94% of America’s abortion facilities are in cities.

15. The National Challenge… • Pregnancy Centers are predominantly operating in “red county” America. • Abortion facilities are largely operating in “blue county” America; in our nation’s cities.

16. Example: PITTSBURGH The National Challenge… • Pittsburgh has 5 abortion facilities • Pennsylvania has 138 PRC’s • Pittsburgh has 0 PRC’s • But several outside the city limits

17. A National Strategic Plan Heartbeat International, Care Net, and Focus on the Family have agreed to work together to steer the pregnancy center movement into the neediest cities of America over the coming years.

18. Heartbeat of Miami: A Pilot Project Heartbeat International has taken Miami as their Pilot Project in this National Strategic Plan.

19. Why Miami? • Florida is one of the four areas in America were abortion is concentrated. The others are CA (LA!), NY (NYC!), and the District of Columbia (Washington (!). • 40.1 percent of all abortions are happening in Miami-Dade and Broward County. • The problem is centralized in and around Miami.

20. Why Miami?… • Miami shows the greatest need. It has nearly 40 places where women are being aborted but only one ultrasound- equipped Pregnancy Center.

21. We have identified 37 abortion facilities in/around Miami to date

22. Seven abortion facilities have been identified in one neighborhood: Hialeah

23. Answering the Call… “Life is God’s most precious gift. Abortion…is not merely an awful tyranny; it is a smear against the integrity of God as well. Suffer as we must, even die if need be, such rebellion against heaven must not be free to run its terrible courses.” Ignatius Loyola (1491-1556)

24. Because Heartbeat Believes this… They are dedicating time, talent and treasure to Miami.

25. Because Rev. John Ensor believes this… He has agreed to lead the Miami initiative on behalf of Heartbeat International. John is the founder of “A Woman’s Concern,” a ministry of six pregnancy centers in Boston. John Ensor is an ordained Evangelical minister, speaker and author of several books, including, Answering the Call (Focus on the Family, 2003).

26. Because we hope many believe this… We hope to raise $1,000,000 in start-up funds (2 years). • to instruct and inspire the local church to the mission. • to plan, lease, hire, train and equip 3-5 new PRC’s • to raise a matching amount in annual, local support. Raised to date: $225,000 for year one.

27. Ways to help Answer the Call • Pray. Intercede for God’s favor and guidance. • Pledge. Contribute to our start-up plans or pledge a monthly gift. • Promote. Pass this vision on to like-minded friends. • Provide. We will need plumbers and preachers, IT guys and data-base geeks, marketing specialists, nurses, counselors and drivers. Provide your profession.
