Primers Spraying Primer Etching Primer Spray 1 Thin, Light Coat Only On Bare Metal Prime Or Seal After Flash Time Epoxy Primer Spray 2-3 Medium Wet Coats On Any Surface Allow For Flash Time Between coats Polyurethane Primer Spray 2-3 Medium Wet Coats On Filled Or Painted Surfaces Allow For Flash Time Between Coats Polyester Primer Spray 1 Medium Light Coat Followed By 3-6 Full Wet Coats On Filled Surfaces Allow for Flash Time Between Coats • Etching Primer • Provides Adhesion To Next Coating • Uses Acid To Etch (Eat Into) The Metal For Adhesion • Excellent Adhesion To Sanded Bare Metal • Bad For Sandblasted Bare Metal • Requires Sealer Before Painting • Epoxy Primer • Provides Adhesion And Sealing To Next Material • Excellent Adhesion To All Bare Metal • Gives A Good Base For Body Filler • Must Be Sanded • Can Be Painted Over • Polyurethane Primer • Fills Minor Imperfections In Paint Layers And Bodywork • Best Over Painted Surfaces • Thin And Flexible • Must Be Sanded • Can Be Painted Over • Polyester Primer • Fills Major Imperfections In Bodywork And Paint Layers • Best Over Bodywork • Must Be Sanded • Requires Sealer Before Painting 43 42
