Dear Mary, Isn’t Monticello beautiful? I have learned so much about Thomas Jefferson. Did you know that in addition to writing the Declaration of Independence and serving as the 3rd President, he also took over as Minister to France after Benjamin Franklin? While we were here, we took a tour of the Center for Historic Plants. The roses and peonies were blooming and they were just beautiful! I also bought some sweet pea seeds that I can plant in my garden. Most of the construction materials for the house were made or harvested there on the property. The bricks and nails were made at Monticello. The wood was from trees on the property. Even some of the stone was quarried there. The house is really beautiful inside! I look forward to seeing you soon and showing you all my vacation pictures. Sincerely, Stephanie Mary Smith 100 Anywhere Drive Covington TN 38019
