Sunflower Chapter Vision Statement The Sunflower (Kansas) Chapter will be the KEY professional resource for health care financial managers.
Sunflower Chapter • Mission Statement The Sunflower (Kansas) Chapter will provide the membership with: • Quality Education Programs • Career and Professional Development Resources • A forum to facilitate an exchange of ideas, information and experiences.

Certification • HFMA’s certification programs lead to the designation, Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) and Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).

Certification (cont…) • The Sunflower Chapter has committed their resources to support certification. Study courses have been ordered and may be checked out by contacting Becky Newton at (316) 804-6014 or email: becky.newton@newmedctr.org. Certification guides can be checked out by interested members for 3 months on a first come, first serve basis.

Volunteer Opportunities • Our chapter offers many services to our members, as well as many ways to volunteer your services and become involved in the Chapter.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Audit Committee: Audits Chapter’s books and financial records at the close of each fiscal year and reviews adequacy of internal controls.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Bylaws Committee: Reviews Chapter’s Bylaws annually and develops proposed revisions for consideration by the board of directors.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Communications Committee: Responsible for publication of Chapter’s newsletter, the annual membership directory, maintenance of the Chapter’s website and any other publication for distribution to the membership.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Corporate Sponsorship Committee: Responsible for soliciting contributions from vendors and other parties to help offset the rising costs of providing educational offerings to our members. Additionally, the funds will be utilized for the Rural Assistance Program and providing an incentive for our members to become Certified.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Founders Awards Committee: Responsible for accumulating member scoring data for HFMA Founders awards. • History Committee: Responsible for compiling and maintaining significant information about the Chapter and its membership.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Membership Committee: Responsible for coordinating new member recruitment activities. • Nominating Committee: Responsible for nominating qualified members to serve as officers and directors for the following year. Also responsible for replacing any member of the Board as a result of a vacancy during the Chapter year.
Volunteer Opportunities (cont…) • Professional Excellence Committee: Responsible for conducting coaching courses for HFMA professional examinations. Also responsible for conducting special interest workshops and of assisting the Chapter Secretary in collecting member and continuing education data.
