Complete metamorphosis is a term applied to insects to describe four life stages – as an embryo or egg, a larva, a pupa, and an adult stage.
Incomplete metamorphosis is the development of certain insects that includes 3 stages: the egg, nymph, and the adult stage. There is no pupa stage. The nymph often somewhat resembles the adult stage with similar body parts.
