  1. Math Monsters: Mapping • Watch the KLRN video. • Get a large sheet of manilla paper. Draw a map from school to your house. • Be sure to include important landmarks Kinder/ First/ Second

  2. Math Monsters: Data Collection • Watch the KLRN video. • Take a poll in your classroom of each students’ favorite type of pancake. • Open Graph Club and create a bar graph to show your data. First/ Second

  3. Math Monsters: Patterns • Watch the KLRN video. • Use the cubes at your station to create a pattern. Try to make a variety of patterns • Draw the patterns on your paper • Extra- look for patterns in your classroom. Use a digital camera to take pictures of the patterns. Kinder/ First/ Second

  4. Discovering Math: Geometry • Watch the KLRN video segment: Congruent and Similar Shapes. • With a partner: Each person needs a geoboard, rubber bands, and dot paper. One student will create a shape on their geoboard. Then the second student will create a similar shape and a congruent shape on their board. Copy your figures onto dot paper. Third/ Fourth/ Fifth

  5. Discovering Math: Measurement • Watch the KLRN video segment: Areas and Perimeters • When you are at the station you will use a ruler, tape measure, or yardstick to find the perimeter and area of each shape. Record your information in the Perimeter and Area Chart. Third/ Fourth/ Fifth

  7. Discovering Math: Measurement • Watch the KLRN video segment: Example 1: Distance- Inches, Feet and Yards • Fill out the paper, Choose the Appropriate Unit Chart. Identify five objects that would be measured in inches, five objects that would be measured in feet, and five objects that would be measured in yards and record the objects in the chart. Then identify the appropriate unit of measurement for each object. Estimate each object’s length using that unit of measurement. Use a ruler, tape measure, or yardstick (as appropriate) to find the actual lengths. Third/ Fourth/ Fifth
