Place in the Canon: Lamentations serves as a reminder that the justice of God will not sleep forever. He will punish sin and when he does, our only response can be true brokenness and repentance. Historically, Lamentations shows us the fall of Jerusalem. Theologically, it reveals to us the godly response to sin and punishment.
