Timothy Leary • Psychologist at Harvard university during LSD’s most popular time. • He had experimented with other hallucinogens and became a major promoter of LSD at Harvard. • With the encouragement of novelist Aldous Huxley, Leary launched a public campaign promoting the use of LSD as a mind expanding drug. • Brave New World and The Doors of Perception promoted LSD • Student’s parents were upset with Leary and he ultimately got fired in 1963 • Leary continued promoting the drug around the country and was popular for coining the phrase “turn on, tune in, [and] drop out.”
