Aim of the Course • Insights into contemporary research • Introduction to Web Science: a new interdisciplinary research area
Topics • Introductory lecture per topic • State-of-the-art or reference research articles presenting recent advances in the topic • Each student has to present one article in the second part of the course (starting June 11)
Topics • Semantic Web (Helmi) • Collaborative Web (Sergej) • Mining the Social Web (Asmelash) • Ontologies (Helmi) • Query Recommendation (Xiaofei) • Learning to Rank for Information Retrieval (Ernesto) • Recommender Systems (Ernesto)
Student Paper Presentations • Each student pick at least two papers • One will be attributed or presentation • First-come first-served • Latest possible subscription: June 5 • Coaches help students understand papers and give feedback on the presentations
