  9. Summit Youth Hockey Association Scholarship opportunities – Sue Rodgers In ’13/14Summit Hockey offered $7500 in Scholarships (self funded). For ’14/15 - Summit Hockey will again self fund scholarships for the organization. The process is simple and confidential. Sue Rodgers - rykyr@hotmail.com – accepting scholarship applications July 1-31, 2014.  Summit Hockey will fund no more than 50% of the registration fee in a particular division.  To apply – the families must submit the following: Letter of need Copy of 2013 Tax return Information is on the Website!

Summit Youth Hockey Association Coaching Overview - ADM is successful, and will continue to be refined - We will continue our arrangement with Wren for goalie coaching - PeeWee body contact rules are considered successful - HPHL tested stricter penalties at High School level, I believe these should be implemented at all age groups - Number of coaches, and experience level continues to grow, invested in advanced training for 5 more coaches, and tools, iPads etc…

USA is ranked 6th by International Ice Hockey FederationWhat? - Current system just evolved over time - Ten years ago we began the National Team Development System - Performed elite performance studies/research - Hockey is not an early specialization sport, pgm to 20 years old - Early specialization may be detrimental - Based on LTAD model, endorsed by NHL - Form ~36 HPC (impact on AAA?) - Provide specific educational materials, by age group When? Soon……

Summit Youth Hockey Association FUNdamentals Ages 6-8 females Ages 6-9 males Training and Competitive Environment: • Training/Competition Ratio: No formal competition • Training Volume: Hockey two times per week, with session length no longer than 50 minutes in the Learn to Play Program. A third session at the 8 & Under level can be held for an informal competition – cross ice/half-ice games USA Hockey – American Development model continued Recent discussion with USA Hockey indicates our current program is OK

  19. Summit Youth Hockey Association Registration Process – Heather Gard Registration On-line registration will be open this year July 1st through July 31st. (same as last year). • Late fee of $100 will be assessed after August 1, 2014 • No guarantee of team placement after August 1, 2014 • On-line Registration software (by NGIN) • New system • More user friendly interface • Better financial tools • Direct interface to USA Hockey & Cybersport

High School Mountain Militia Update* Registration at try-outs was 43 players- Players from 9 schools, 1 AAA, 1 from Juniors* Varsity was ranked 12th in Tier 1* Break even budget* Coaches: Chesnutt, Motz, Grabham, Dekovend, Arbuthnot* Varsity was extremely successful, finished 1st in division, 2nd in the play-offs. * Several scouts attended our games, interviewed players Mission: Prove the MOUNTAIN player can compete with the front range Mission: ACCOMPLISHED
