Meteors Members: Ahn Soo Young Jee Myeong Keun Diego Širola Slaven Mišak Team leader: Nikola Strah Scientific advisors: Goran Zgrablić Izidor Pelajić Nikola Biliškov
Background Meteors: -small particles of dust -up to 50m in diameter -circle the Sun – meteor streams
Radio observation Goal: -detect a signal from a station far far away (more than 800 km) (forward scattering) -record the signal through the night -analyze the recorded data Ionization trail TV station Prague Meteor Group Lab
Equipment - Yagi antenna - iCom IC-PCR1000 receiver - Computer and Humanware
Details • iCom IC-PCR1000 receiver • Frequency 49.7396 MHz TV station in Prague, output power 150 kW, distance 544 km, video and audio signal recorded • PC computer Pentium 3 • Data recording, reduction and analysis performed with CoolEdit & Audacity software, sampling rate 11087 Hz Digging the hole for the antenna Yagi antenna in the dark
Results • 13h of raw data to be processed • 10 minutes of actual meteor recordings
Visual observation Plan: -gather few hours of observations -send report to IMO -calculate ZHR
Results - Few hours of observation - Reports sent to IMO - ZHR calculated for all observations - Observed showers: - Perseides - Southern δ Aquarides - κ Cygnides ZHR:-κ Cygnides- 1.day 3 2.day 40 3.day 41
ELF • Goals: • Record a meteor signal in ELF band (0- 300 Hz)
Equipment • ELF orb • 50 Hz filter • DC filter • NI DAQmx SCB-68 and appropriate software
Schematics NI DAQmx SCB-68 PC with acquisition software made in LabView 7.1 50 Hz cutoff 150 Hz cutoff Low pass DC Filter Electrometer
Results • equipment testing Signal from the electrometer Signal from the electrometer when electrometer was grounded
- We used Slaven for grounding purposes With the grounding Without the grounding
FFT calculated using LabView programmed software and CoolEdit Frequency Analysis
Video • Goal: • Simultaniousley record the sky with video camera combined with radio & visual observation for analisys.
Equipment • Watec WAT-902H CCD camera • DC power supply- founded and thoroughly tested • Video capture card • MetRec and Meteoder software
Results - Video capture card (Meteor II) doesn’t work - Camera works - DC power supply is operating “First light” from camera- tested on video monitor from the control room of the observatory
THE END Thank you for your attention!Any questions?
