5. 1865 Presbyterian mission workers Daniel McGilvary and Jonathon Wilson came to Chiang Mai 1867 Two converts were killed by the prince of Chiang Mai. The missionaries went to Bangkok and asked for religious freedom. The king proclaimed freedom for Thai people to follow any religion they choose.
