Proposal of US – Czech collaborative R&D on MSR and AHTR systems Mutual interest to open a collaborative R&D on AHTR and MSR technology was expressed by representatives of ORNL, University of California Berkeley and NRI in 2008 Memorandum of Agreement between UT-Battelle LLC (managing the ORNL) and NRI Řež plc was concluded in December 2009 Coolant salt has been prepared for shipment to Czech Republic since January 2010

Summary of Current Status 2008 – 9: Basic plans were defined by UCB, ORNL and NRI December 2009: Memorandum of Agreement between UT-Battelle and NRI was signed . [ Memorandum concerns providing NRI the 7LiF-BeF2 salt by UT-Battelle (ORNL) and subsequent realization of neutronic measurements on the LR-0 reactor in NRI] January 2010: As NRI is a private company, US-DOE expressed the wish to cover Memorandum of Agreement by suitable intergovernmental agreement. March, June, September, November 2010: The collaborative program was discussed by US and Czech experts during several meetings in Prague, Řež, Paris, San Diego, Oak Ridge, San Francisco and Berkeley. December 2010: Joint Declaration about civilian nuclear energy collaboration was signed by US-DOC, US-DOE and MIT CR representatives.
