Nexteer: QAD On-Demand • Conversion from SAP to QAD – First Nexteer On-Demand Implementation – July 2011 • 2 Sites in Poland (Tychy & Gliwice) – complete ERP • - One of the first large On-Demand customers • North America Phase I – March 2012 Limited Scope: Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger,Indirect Material (limited) • Future Plans: • North America Phase II – Legacy ERP systems
Challenges with On-Demand • Processes not well defined (QAD & Nexteer) • Change of Resources • No implementation team for On-Demand • - Merged with Production Customers • Time Zones – Services and Support • - For QAD Resources • Untrained QAD Resources on Processes • -Requires dedicated Resources • QAD Silo’s • - On-Demand vs Support vs R&D • VIA West vs QAD • - Must go through QAD • - No Direct Communication
Lessons Learned with On-Demand • Must have On-Demand dedicated Resources during Implementation Phase • Must have multiple environments: • Prod • Test • Development (QAD) • Training • Implementation (Deployments) • New Release (QAD software releases) • Very difficult to manage without clearly defined processes. • Assign a dedicated QAD Support Manager and dedicated On-Demand Manager as a point of contact for issues. • Must have a “stress test” as part of implementation
Benefits of On-Demand • No resources needed to manage hardware • - Ram upgrades, Backups, etc… • No Capital required • - no physical space, depreciation, etc. • QAD has been very willing to change • - Listen to our concerns & ideas • - Partnership
