Why? • Demonstrating ability to: • Analyze literature • Make claims AND support them • Make connections across works • Speak about literature
Choose 3-4 top authors Do a brief search of listed works Only 1 student per author First come, first served Sign up tomorrow AM Wednesday – Friday = library research/work time Compile Biography PP slideshow Upload to ALink folder on Troy server by end of the period on FRIDAY Step One: Step Two:
Slide 1: author name, one picture, birth & death year, your name Slide 2: Concise timeline—10 most important events Slide 3: Personal life info (marriage, kids, addictions, etc.) Slide 4: Career info (hardships, achievements, etc.) Slide 5: Career info Slide 6: Critics/reader response to Slide 7: List of works with date of publication; Asterisk your selected works Slide 8: Social/historical context timeline (lifetime) Slide 9: Social/historical context specific to works you are reading Slide 10: Bibliography (list of ALL sources used/unused in the compilation of this information Slideshow Requirements
10-15 slides (including Bib.) Use graphics to enhance aesthetics Concise data (not copied) Avoid: text-heavy slides Fluffy (time-consuming) transitions Clearly label each slide Save as Last name First initial_pd# (e.g., SmithJ_pd2) Save in ALink folder, Eng2H, Author Bios Due by Friday 1/30 end of the period.
