  2. A • Abolitionist is a movement to end slavery. In western Europe and the Americas abolitionism was a movement to end the slave trade and set slaves free. • Anti-Federalism refers to a movement that opposed the creation of a stronger U.S. federal government and which later opposed the ratification of the Constitution of 1787. • Alien- a non-citizen inhabitant of a country.

B • Burgesses- member of the British Parliament representing a borough, corporate town, or university. • Boycott-is a form of consumer activism involving the act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest, usually for political reasons. • Boomtown-A boomtown is a community that experiences sudden and rapid population and economic growth

  4. C • Cabinet- aboard to advise the President; members are the secretaries of executive departments; the United treaty States constitution does not provide for the cabinet. • Cash crop-a type of crop you sale for money. • Cede-to give up by treaty.

  5. D • Debtor – person or country that owes money • Decree- an order or decision given by one in authority • Desert- to leave without permission

  6. E • Emancipation-To free from slavery • Export-To sell goods aboard • Embargo-An order prohibiting trade with another country

  7. F • Fifth Amendment-No person shall be deprived of life liberty • Fort Sumter-Fort on an island guarding Charleston harbor • Fist Amendment-Religion assembly petition press speech

  8. G • Garrison William Lloyd -Abolitionist antislavery movement • Genocideen-Deliberate destruction of a racial political or cultural group • Global Warming-A steady increase in average world temperature

  9. H • Henry Patrick-Persuaded the burgesses to take action against the stamp act. • House of Burgesses-Make local laws for the colony.
