  3. Be sure to make class enjoyable Make the student feel they are getting their money’s worth! It’s Only 6 Dives

  4. How old does the student have to be? What are the ratios for an advanced class? Is there a written test? Which dives are required? What is an Advanced Class?

  5. What is the max depth for an advanced class? How many dives can be completed in a day? Can dives be combined? What is an Advanced Class?

  6. S & P Manual NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver Kit NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver Instructor Guide Resources

  7. Where am I going to teach my course? Logistics

  8. Why a Local Dive Shop? • Classroom • Gear • Rentals • Assistants / Support • Pool • Referrals • Dive Charter Boats Logistics

  9. Will you require any lectures for this course What dives will be offered What equipment will be required Do you have the necessary equipment for the dives Logistics

  10. Deep • Navigation • Night • Search & Recovery • Boat Diving • Hunting & Collecting • Ecology Specialties • Wreck (non-penetration) • Data collection • Beach / surf / currents • Shore Diving • Photography

  11. You can always add to the course • Buoyancy Clinic • Gives an idea as the diver’s skill level / comfort • Fine tune / correct any issues prior to dives • Neutral buoyancy! Basic Course Structure

  12. REMEMBER Better buoyancy + slower breathing = better air consumption + longer bottom time! Buoyancy

  13. SACR • Why is this useful information? • But how do we figure out air consumption? Surface Air Consumption Rate

  14. First we must determine the DACR • PSI BURNED / TIME = PSI per MINUTE • Let’s say we’ve used 500 PSI in ten minutes at a depth of 33 feet. What is our DACR? Getting the SACR

  15. Now we must figure out our depth in ATA or atmosphere’s absolute • ATA = DEPTH / 33 + 1 33 / 33 = 1 + 1 = 2 ATA Getting the SACR

  16. SACR = DACR / ATA SACR = 50 / 2 = 25 PSI / minute Getting the SACR

  17. Night Deep Navigation The 3 Required dives

  18. Familiarization Dive Dive Should be Slow and Easy Special Considerations Night Dive

  19. Distress Night Dive Signals • OK • Attention

  20. Dive Tables Cognition and Reaction Time Special Consideration Deep Dive
