  3. Your Task… • Read your assigned portion of the essay. • As you read, mark the text to note what your assigned author’s dream was and how he or she accomplished it.

  4. With your “jigsaw” group… • Starting with the person from group #1, each group member will share the essential information from the section of the essay he or she read. • Group members should take notes over the obstacles each person faced and how each individual gained access to the American dream.

  5. Your Task… • Independently read “Lifelong Dreamer – Vietnam Boat Person.” (Pages 46-50) • As you read, mark the text where Nancy Pham states her dream, where the dream is threatened, and how the dream comes into existence.
