The Capital Health Context • 13 school districts( Black Gold Regional Schools, Conseil Scolaire Centre Nord, Edmonton Catholic Schools, Edmonton Public Schools, Elk Island Catholic Schools, Elk Island Public Schools, Evergreen Catholic Separate Regional Division, Grand Yellowhead Regional Division, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, Parkland School Division, St. Albert Protestant Schools, St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools, Sturgeon School Division) • 540 schools • ~ 200,000 students

  12. Future Successes • Mental Health Promotion Kit- 11 lesson plans and interactive activities for grades 4-6 to meet specific objectives of the Health and Lifeskills Curriculum - Developed in partnership (Capital Health, two school divisions, CMHA, Hope Foundation)

  13. Expecting Respect • Peer education program that gives youth skills (leadership) and information • Focus on: healthy relationships, bullying, addictions, tobacco reduction • Partnership project (AADAC, City of Edmonton Community Services, Capital Health, other agencies/foundations/grants)

Tip of the Iceberg • The examples of excellent programs and partnerships for improving the health of our students are too plentiful to list as they occur:- within individual classrooms- within champion schools- within supportive school districts- within committed community programs - within focused divisions of health
