  3. Regular Day Schedule Warning Bell 8:05  Period 1 8:10-9:03 Period 2 9:07-9:59  Period 3 10:03-10:55 Lunch 10:55-11:25  Period 4 11:29-12:20 Period 5 12:24-1:15  Period 6 1:19-2:10 *4 minute passing periods

  4. Minimum Day Schedule Warning Bell 8:05  Period 1 8:05-8:48  Period 2 8:52-9:28  Period 3 9:32-10:08  Period 4 10:12-10:48 Lunch (7th graders only) 10:48-11:18 Period 511:22-12:00  Period 6 12:04-12:40  *4 minute passing periods

General Behavior Expectations • Students will come to class prepared. • Students will respect others and their property. • Students will follow directions the first time they are given. • Students will complete all assignments. • Students will accept the consequences of chosen behaviors. *Teachers may have additional specific rules.

  7. Typical Rewards* • Renaissance • Eligibility • Verbal Praise • Viking Raffle Tickets • Positive Note/Call Home • Great self-esteem for doing their best! * Rewards vary by teacher

  8. Typical Consequences • Warning • Detention with Teacher • (lunch or after school) • Phone call home • Office Referral • After-school Detention • ALC (Alternative Learning Center) • 10 Step Discipline Plan

Homework • Homework • May consist of unfinished classwork • Reinforces concepts taught in class • Very important part of grade! • Kids need to practice! • Math students NEED to show work! • All work is collected next day! (No desk to leave it in!) *Please note that some teachers do not accept late work, and others accept for partial credit only.

Absent Work • It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to obtain and turn in all absent work. • Teachers all have a system for absent work. • It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to be aware of this system. • Check website for assignments • If absent 3 or more days, call office for a homework request.

  12. ILLUMINATE Instructions(will be sent home…) Information on the Parent Portal will be sent home soon! You will be able to: • Check grades • Check attendance • See test scores • Access transcripts • View student progress towards promotion eligibility

  13. Communication With Teachers • EMAIL • The best way to contact teachers! • Please do not wait until the end of the grading period to ask a question. The teachers are more than willing to help, but it is very difficult to do this at the last minute!  • Parent/Teacher Conferences

  15. Parents, please: • Check Teacher Websites Regularly • Have student show you completed work. (If he or she cannot show you, it has not been done. Students are not allowed to turn in early.) • Check to ensure planner is being filled out • Check Illuminate weekly, at minimum • Set up place for student to work at home • Email teacher with questions/concerns • Hold student accountable

  16. Minder binders • Students are encouraged to fill out Minder Binders, or other student planners, daily, even if not prompted by the teacher. • Minder Binder may be purchased at the student store for $5.00.

  17. Absences/Tardies • Please minimize absences and tardies. • Absences and tardies adversely affect student performance. • Remember, students are responsible for all absent work • Truancy • San Bernardino County defines a truant as a student who misses three or moredays of school. • SART/SARB

How to help your student be successful • Students, please: • Complete and turn in all classwork and homework on a daily basis. • Pay attention and ask questions!  • Complete and turn in any absent work (all classes). • Follow teacher and school procedures and rules at all times. • Show corrected work/school notifications to parents/guardians.

How to help your student be successful, continued… Parents/Guardians, please: • Ask student for graded work/school notifications weekly • Check Teacher Websites Regularly • Have student show you completed work. (If he or she cannot show you, it has not been done. Students are not allowed to turn in early.) • Check to ensure planner is being filled out • Check Illuminate weekly, at minimum • Set up place for student to work at home • Help student organize work/papers, if needed • Email teacher with questions/concerns • Hold student accountable

  20. How to help your student be successful, continued… Parents/Guardians, please: • Help your student go through/clean out his or her backpack regularly. • Ensure that your student eats breakfast every day.

  24. Minimum grade point average The Alta Loma School District requires that students earn a 1.6 Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) or higher in order to participate in promotion or related activities. • Talent Show • Knott’s Berry Farm • Yearbook Signing • Promotion Party • Promotion Ceremony
