APRSWXNET/CWOP Purpose - Collect weather data from citizens and make those data available as a public service for any non-commercial use. - Provide feedback and guidance to weather station operators to help them improve the quality of their weather data.
APRSWXNET/CWOP Membership (9/11/02) 1. Registered Hams - 658 total registered - 937 2. Registered CW - 279 3. Unregistered CW - 293 4. Inactive - 74 Each hour 575+ registered stations contributing weather data to NOAA
Station Registration for hams - call, town, zip, elevation, name, e-mail - verify data on findu.com * - obtain lat/long from findu.com * - assign provider ID, ap123 * - assign 5-character NWS ID, AP123 * - enter all information into database * - generate APRSWXNETStation.txt file * - check APRSWXNETStation.txt file * my responsibility
