SmartMQn Motor Horner APG, LLC September 9, 2008
SmartMqn Concept • Horner Control Technology • Applications pre-programmed by industry experts • Configurable by end users with no PLC experience • Packaged with everything to get started
What Does it Do? • Monitors three phase motors for a number of current, temperature and timing parameters. • Provides motor protection functions. • Provides real-time and historical data of motor parameters. • Optional local and remote start / stop control of the motor. • Real-time and historical data displayed on a graphical user interface. • Connectivity on serial, CAN and optional wireless, modem, Ethernet and cellular.
What are the Advantages? • All in one solution – optionally includes the panel, 3 motor CTs and the controller • Easy to use and install • Powerful trending and data logging – up to 2 gigs of local data storage • Advanced connectivity • Built-in graphical user interface • Optional remote monitoring capabilities
Monitored Parameters • Phase and Ground current • A,B,C,Gnd Phase Amps • Average Amps • A,B,C,Gnd % of Full Load Current • Average % of Full Load Current • Protection function accumulators • Thermal (TOC - calculated) • Thermal (PTC - measured) • Starts/Hr • Motor run-time (Hours)
Protection • Start Sequence Completion (ANSI 48) • Starts-per-hour / Minutes-per-start protection (ANSI 66) • Under-load current detection (ANSI 37) • Overload current detection (or jam detection) • Unbalanced current detection (ANSI 46) • Stall detection (ANSI 50) • Timed over-current (ANSI 51) • Ground fault current detection (ANSI 50G) • External Protection (ANSI 94) • PTC Protection (ANSI 49) • Circuit Breaker Monitor
Main Screen Operation Alarms Motor State Motor Stats Trending The main screens shows critical information. Press one of the four soft keys to get more details.
Monitoring / Logging • Real-time trends of all currents. • Historical trends before a trip showing the last 100 seconds, 16.5 minutes and last 16.5 hours. • PTC Temperature trend. • Data logging of phase currents, ground current, average current and PTC happens every 10 seconds to removable media. Data is logged in CSV format that can be read by Microsoft Excel or a variety of data analysis tools. • Alarms and protection trips are also recorded with time and date stamps and recordings of currents and temperatures.
Inputs and Outputs • Two auxiliary multifunction NO contacts • Dedicated Alarm output NO contact (monitor mode) • Dedicated NO/NC Latching Trip output (monitor mode) • Configurable Single and Dual coil control outputs (controller mode) • Three multifunction inputs • Dedicated 52 contact input • Trip reset (UI, terminal or network)
Connectivity • Modbus Slave and CsCAN CAN Built-in • Optional Ethernet • Optional Radio Modem • Optional Land Line Modem • Optional Cellular Modem
PC Monitoring • Compatible with Envision RV for remote viewing of the SmartMQn Motor panel locally or anywhere in the world (may require optional comm add-on). • Compatible with Envision FX for transfer of data logging files from the SmartMQn Motor to a PC.
Data Example Alarms and Trips are stored in CSV format that can directly be opened in Excel.
Data Example • Data is plotted with a couple of clicks in Excel.
Ordering • Available with or without the panel package (includes panel, power supply, circuit breaker and wiring block). • Includes three motor CTs supporting 50, 450 and 1000 Amp loads. • Optional Communication Add-ons
Inputs and Outputs - Details • Configurable Inputs for: • External protection functions (2) • Start / Stop • 52A – circuitbreaker sense • Reset - (trip, alarm, etc) • Remote - switch control to remote point • Configurable Outputs for: • Auxiliary outputs (2) controlled by network • Run / Stop indications • R+A - Run with flash if alarm present • S+T - Stop with flash if trip present • Block Start - typically used with dual coil contactor • Outputs Assigned based on Configuration: • Alarm / Trip • Pulse Trip - Stop relay is pulsed • Latch - Circuit is made on RUN and broken on STOP or TRIP. • Pulse On / Off Pulsed on run / stop or trip commands
