  2. ISAVE • A functional vision assessment tool • Provides a process for making formal observations of visual abilities and behavior in students who are considered “difficult to test”

  3. ISAVE is for • Infants, children, and young adults with significant additional impairments who cannot respond reliably to standard measures of visual functioning • Non-handicapped “at risk” infants, toddlers, preschoolers & kindergartners

  4. Why use ISAVE? To gain information which can be transformed into effective and unique intervention strategies--helping the student apply “even the slightest degree of visual functioning”

  5. ISAVE results describe • how & what the student sees • visual compensations used • optimal stimulus characteristics • student variables influencing vision • helpful adaptations to the environment

  6. How is it organized? • Two ring-binders containing 16 color-coded booklets, including 11 scoring protocols • 2 screening protocols • Summary protocol

  7. ISAVE Includes: • Cassette tape edition of text • CD edition of text, including scoring protocol forms • cards for evaluating visual acuity and discrimination • vinyl grid for evaluating visual fields • display board
