Virtual Clothes’ Simulations Assist. Prof. Ph.D. Simona Jevšnik, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Zoran Stjepanovič, Ph.D. Damjana Celcar
The aim of the presentation: The review of nowadays approaches and methods used for behaviour simulation of textile materials, once they have been joined in a three-dimensional object – piece of clothing, car seat or a seating element of interior –in addition to virtual prototyping process of clothes and their implementation into virtual fashion shows and e-shops. Virtual prototyping process of clothes
SIMULATION OF TEXTILE MATERIALS Drapeability Testing procedure It is one of the mostimportantaestheticconceptcharacteristics. Real presentation of clothes’ drape on dummies and mannequin models Draping – three-dimensional phenomenon Understanding this phenomenon for the purpose of its mathematical record in computer supported environment is of significant importance when it comes to designing and constructing clothes in Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems and virtual environments. Drape is a fabric’s ability to form pleasing folds when bent under its own weight.

VIRTUAL CLOTH SIMULATION The first accurate clothes simulation applications appeared in 1990s. They integrated numerous computer technologies that included clothes simulations and were focused mostly on modelling, animation of human body motion, interaction between body and clothes as well as its response. The first virtual simulations included simple designs (1980) Sodobna simulacija- še dodam sliko

VIRTUAL FASHION SHOWS Virtual fashion show First modern/contemporary fashion show
ONLINE SHOPING Virtual e-shop My Virtual Model™ programme window Virtual fashion shows and e-shops surely have a future. Their advantages are mostly emphasized when it comes to cutting back on time intended for creating and developing designer’s ideas while designing a new model. Furthermore, a stylist is able to easily choose from a selection of various items.
CONCLUSION The primary advantage of virtual simulations is that we can design clothes while directly monitoring its fitting to the silhouette of a specific person without his or her physical presence. Can virtual fashion shows or e-garment shops completely replace the real traditional fashion show or fashion stores? The answer is still no.
