Name:_____________________________________________ Date:________________ Mathematic Remember: For Multiples think Multiplication Tables Lowest Common Multiple (L.C.M.): These are the multiples that given numbers have in common. E.g. ➢8 is a multiple of 2 and 4. ➢It can be said to be a common multiple of 2 and 4 ➢Numbers such as 16, 24, 32 and many others are multiples that 2 and 4 share (common multiples) but the lowest is 8 Example: The L.C.M of 4, 5 and 8 Times-Tables Method 4:- 4 , 8 , 12, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48 Example: The L.C.M of 4, 5 and 8 Ladder Method Step 1: Divide each Number given using Prime Numbers (factors). Starting with the smallest factor if possible. At least one number on the line must be divided. Step 2: Continue dividing by the prime numbers until the last line has only 1’s Prime Number = 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 etc Prime: 2,3,5,7,11 4 , 5 , 8 2 , 5 , 4 1 , 5 , 2 1 , 5 , 1 1 , 1 , 1 2 2 2 5 5:- 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 8:- 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72 L.C.M. = 2 x 2 x 2 x 5 = 40
