  1. August 8, 2017 Are You Experiencing Any of These Door Lock Problems? Call a Locksmith as Soon as Possible You may think a problem with your door locks at home is not a big deal, but it actually is. Burglaries are a particularly common occurrence throughout the US with as many as two million burglaries being reported in the country every single year. Burglars usually make their way in through the home's front and back doors. This makes your door locks your first line of defense. Defective locks increase the risk of being victimized by burglars. This is why it’s best to make sure your locks are always up to the task and would stay locked unless accessed with a key. pg. 1

  2. Here are number of lock issues an experienced locksmith can fix in no time: Door Key Is Not Working If you know you are using the right key, but it can no longer unlock the door, there may be a need to take your lock apart to check if the cam or tang is engaged correctly with the bolt. There may also be a need to replace some broken parts before reassembling your lock. The locksmith may also recommend rekeying your house just to be sure all the keys would work properly. Door Lock Is Slow to Work Due to exposure to dirt and other elements, locks can get compromised to the point that it takes a while for you to be able to unlock your door. To fix this, a lock de-icer may be used to remove any dirt deposits which have collected inside the lock over time. Door Key Has Broken Off Inside the Lock Having your key break off with a part of it still inside the lock is quite a serious problem. You can try using a coping saw blade or hard wire to hook and remove the stuck key part. But since you’re probably going to need a replacement key made, it will be much better to call a locksmith to remove the key and check the lock for other problems too. This way, you also won’t risk doing further damage to your locks. This is something you may want to leave to a locksmith to deal with as attempting lock repairs on your own may lead to some unwanted injuries on your hands and arms. If you encounter any of these problems with your locks, ask for the assistance of a professional locksmith right away. While you can attempt to fix the problem yourself, it's not advisable. For starters, handling lock repair tools without proper training or experience may just make the problem worse. It might also make the situation much costlier for you. Avoid all the mess by leaving your lock repairs in trained hands.
