  1. My EVS experience Piotr Krzyżak

  2. The beginning Volunteering has been on my mind for a long time. After participating in several youth exchanges, I decided to try something new. When the opportunity to volunteer in Portugal presented itself, I didn't wait a moment and applied right away. The day before arriving in Portugal, I took the last final exams, it was a time full of nerves and fatigue. Fortunately, the time spent volunteering made up for it.

  3. My volunteering took place in the charming town of Barcelos. The host organization was Sopro, which promotes, among other things, Middle East volunteering and develops awareness-raising activities on volunteering. In Europe, SOPRO cooperates with the Erasmus+ program and the European Solidarity Corps.

  4. Where we worked during the project and what initiatives we carried out

  5. Associação Humanitária de Rio Covo Santa Eugénia In Santa Eugenia, we spent time with older people. We played various games with them, such as bingo and dominoes. I spent a wonderful time there. Everyone there was willing to talk and to help. You could feel the good heart from them and the constant desire to help. Nowhere did I laugh as much as I did there.

  6. As volunteers, we participated with the Seniors in a musical concert and played a variety of instruments with them. We sang Portuguese songs and danced traditional folk dances

  7. We also took part ina sports competition in which our seniors competed in a sport called Boccia. It was a fantastic experience to cheer them on and see them enjoying every throw of the ball.

  8. Rio Neiva I spent almost the whole of July in Rio Covo. It was an amazing place surrounded by beaches and nature. We spent our days kayaking with the kids or hanging out with them on the farm where we hung out with them. The owner of this organization was a fantastic man and we could always count on him. If we wanted to, we could spend the night there, it was a fantastic opportunity to order pizza and admire the sunset on the beach.

  9. We also took part in cleaning the nearby beach from garbage and harmful plants. For several hours we walked in gloves and bags with tools. Even though the weather was not very kind to us, we worked bravely. After all, the beach was unrecognizable, and after hard work we returned happy to our everyday life on kayaks and on the far. Beach cleaning

  10. In my sparetime… I spent a lot of time hanging out with other volunteers, visiting all the nooks and crannies of our city

  11. I liked to decorate our apartment with drawings. Previous volunteers also left their drawings, making the whole living room full of art

  12. I visited many beautiful places in the north of Portugal. Each city had its own unique style and captivated me with different things

  13. We took care of two small stray cats, every day we fed them and gave them food

  14. ECS volunteering was a fantastic experience for me and I'm sure this is not the end of my efforts in this direction . If you are still hesitant to take part, believe me it is really worth a try. Volunteering is an unforgettable period that will win your hearts for a long time.
