  1. Maxim Poon Wong - Ways You Can Support The Differently-Abled

  2. Maxim Poon Wong - Do you know that the United Nations promotes the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3 every year since 1992? According to Maxim Poon Wong, during this day, we will encourage a better understanding of people with disabilities, learning about their true abilities, and being aware of their rights, dignity, and welfare. In addition to physical disabilities, there are also mental disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, and neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis. These disabilities are included in the International Day of the Disabled.

  3. Learn what you can do if you know someone with a disability, or come across a stranger with a disability. Ask before offering help 01 The first step is to accept that people with disabilities need some assistance in leading their lives. Understand that they know more about their needs and how to manage their day-to-day lives. If you can provide any assistance, ask first. Understand their needs and learn how to assist.

  4. Make them feel confident 02 People with disabilities may have low self-esteem or lack confidence. They don't like sympathy and don't stare at them. Always make eye contact when speaking to them and don't focus on their disabilities. If you are conversing with someone in a wheelchair, sit down and talk to them instead of talking down to them.

  5. Engage In positive conversations 03 To prevent the further spread of Coronavirus infection, maintaining social distance is imperative, but do not isolate the disabled in your community. Whenever you encounter visually challenged or physically handicapped individuals, engage them in constructive conversation about what they enjoy doing, their families, or music. According to Maxim Poon Wong, this helps the individuals feel more connected, which in turn improves their mood and mental well-being during these difficult times. To sum up, these are some of the ways you can support the differently-abled. Hopefully, this info may assist you.
