  1. How to Celebrate a Safe Ganesh Chaturthi Ganesh Chaturthi is a big Indian festival celebrated annually to worship the God of good fortune and wisdom. This festival is celebrated in a massive scale, especially in North India, with pandals, large Ganesha idols, food and festivities, until the idol is immersed in water after 10 days, marking the end of the festival. Keeping in mind the current world situation as well as the increasing environmental concerns, it is vital to become aware of our choices and celebrate our big festivals in a safer manner. Here are some tips to follow, in order to celebrate a safe Ganesh Chaturthi. Do not visit public pandals – Public pooja pandals are usually bustling with crowds, which is not safe in light of the global pandemic. Opt to bring your own ganesha idol

  2. and prepare all festivities in the safety of your home. To make an earth-friendly decision, look at eco friendly ganesh idols made of clay and paper. Go virtual – Take advantage of the technological blessing that is the internet. Opt for contactless delivery of pooja items, and include extended family in the festivities through video calls. Say no to plastic – The huge amount of food, call for extra plastic use. Say no to plastic while shopping and consciously choose an eco friendly option. Opt for less energy consumption – Any festival is incomplete without excessive lights. Switch to led lights for over-all lesser energy consumption during the festival. Immersion – Immersion of the idol at the end of the festival is difficult in this scenario. Small, eco friendly ganesh idols such as clay or tree idols can help resolve the issue as they can be immersed in a small tub of water at home, while also being environment friendly.
