  1. Making Learning Fun for Middle School Students Middle school is an altogether a different experience for students. They have to shift from the playful learning mode to a more serious methodology and are exposed to broader subjects. It is normal for kids to feel overwhelmed with the change and get a little off track. This is where teachers have to work closely with students and prepare a curriculum for middle school that makes learning look fun instead of a burden. So, how do teachers go about it? Let’s look at simple ways to make learning fun. • Let students work together because they this way they will retain the information for longer time and quickly. Working in teams enhances the critical thinking ability and communication skills of students. • Instead of having intense classroom sessions for a long stretch, it is better that teachers give students a brain break. Even the research has shown that students learn better when they get some brain refreshing breaks at regular intervals during school time. • If teachers adopt a hands-on learning experience, it will make classroom lesson more interesting. Instead of explaining the theory, conduct experiments in the class and encourage students to participate. • Make sure you don’t technology in the learning process. Using advanced tools and technology can increase the learning and engagement experience of students. Use smart boards or overhead projectors and other equipment to show videos, pictures, and graphical representations to explain concepts and make the topic more interesting. • Take students outdoors. Having classroom lessons at same place every day is monotonous, so taking students outdoors could be a refreshing change. This way, students will not get bored and look forward to having such exciting sessions. • If you are one of those teachers with too many classrooms, this can become a barrier in the learning of students. Try limit the class rules to three or five so that students don’t feel restricted. In addition to the above-pointers, even schools should focus on having integrated learning solutions in classrooms. A holistic approach will ensure middle school students are keen on learning new things and look forward to coming to school every day.
