The wheel diameter gauge is used for accurate measurement of rolling stock wheels. Since rolling stock wheels operate rigid on the axle, the diameter needs to be constant right through to the bottom. In the absence of constant measurement, the wheels stand the threat of derailment, especially on curves.

Wheel Diameter Gauges Wheel diameter gaugesare used for accurate circumference diameter measurement of railway wheels. Measurement of diameter of wheels on the same axle and on the same bogie is an important parameter.  In the absence of reliable measurement, the bogies and the coaches are vulnerable to the threat of derailment, especially on curves.  Other benefits would include superior ride quality, detection of wear and tear, improved maintenance, and optimized life time of wheels. We offer both electronic , mechanical and hybrid wheel dia. gauges . There are separate models for open wheel sets and mounted wheel sets. We have models with precision of 1.0 mm to 0.1 mm. All our diameter gauges use hardened alloy steel measuring points for better abrasion resistance.
