  2. Brian Sutton Brian Sutton comes to the Hyland Hill Hockey Association from the Colorado Outlaws. As a player and coach, Sutton has experience at all levels, including Junior A and collegiate hockey. He began his youth playing career in the Alaska All-Star organization. While playing for the All-Stars he participated in several tournaments including the MACS Tournament in Calgary Alberta. He played his high school hockey at Soldotna High School making the All State Tournament Team as a defenseman and receiving the MVP of the team and state tournament as a freshman. He transferred to Bartlett High school again taking a leadership role as a sophomore and led the team to State were they lost in the semis. As a 17 year old he signed with the Flin Flon Bomber of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) were he had two successful seasons. At the age of 19 Sutton played for North Iowa Huskies in the United State Hockey League. He suffered a season ending injury by fracturing his leg and displacing his ankle in a pre-season tournament. He fought back to lead the team to a National Championship 1988-1989. He attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks on a hockey scholarship, were he had four great seasons with the Nanooks. Following a successful college career Sutton moved on to play professional in the Sunshine Hockey League (SHL) for Jacksonville Bullets and Lakeland Ice Warriors, East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) for Erie Panthers and the Central Hockey League (CHL) for Memphis River Kings. In 1996 Sutton left the professional ranks to further his education at the University of Southern Colorado As a coach, Sutton has worked with Junior A and collegiate players. As head coach of the Springfield Spirit and the Tupelo T-Rex coach Sutton has excelled at moving players on to the next level. He spent two years behind the bench for Colorado State University in which he took them to two ACHA National Championships with a collegiate record of 45-20-5. As a director of Northern Colorado Youth Hockey he worked to develop players from mites to midgets. Including to his coaching duties at Colorado State Sutton served as the USA Hockey Initiation Program Administrator for Colorado and helped in the State and District Evaluation camps for USA Hockey. He resides in Dacono, CO in the off-season with his wife Nancy, sons Kyle and Tyler.

  3. Jamie O’Leary • Jamie is entering his 12th season as a professional youth hockey coach in the state of Colorado in 2008-2009. He has served as the executive hockey director for the Northern Colorado Youth Hockey Association from May 2004-March 2008. Before NCYH, Jamie served as both the Hockey Director and the Assistant Hockey Director for the Hyland Hills Hockey Association and was a successful coach with the Colorado Outlaws Minor Midget AAA team. Jamie played most of his youth hockey in Chicago and Colorado. He attended and played for Shattuck St. Mary's preparatory school in Minnesota and then played Division 1 college hockey for Fairfield University, then a member of the MAAC conference. Jamie was a defenseman.   4. Doug SmailPower skating coach The Power Skating Program for the Elite Players will include 3 weeks of special instruction from Doug. Doug Smail starred at the University of North Dakota for three seasons from 1977 to 1980, scoring 87 points in 40 games in his final season in the WCHA. His performance was enough to warrant notice from the Winnipeg Jets, and the next season he was a full-time NHL player. Smail played 11 seasons with Winnipeg, being a top two-way player for them. In fact, Doug Smail had a streak of 12 consecutive seasons where he scored at least one shorthanded goal, and scored a total of 28 shorthanded goals in his career. Perhaps Smail's greatest claim to fame was when he set the NHL record for fastest goal after the opening faceoff by scoring a goal five seconds after the game started on December 20, 1981. Smail finished his career with the Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques and Ottawa Senators. Total Hockey Academy works with individual players and teams to improve and gain confidence with their skating quickness, stick handling, shooting and hockey vision. Total Hockey Academy is a state of the art 8,000 sq. ft. hockey skills specific training facility. Total Hockey Academy provides on ice and off ice hockey training, hockey clinics, coaching clinics and hockey camps.

  8. Tryouts Each age group will be evaluated by coaches over two hours of ice time. Tryouts will occur March 31st – April 4th at the Ice Centre at the Promenade. Bantams: April 1st 8-9 PM Blue Rink April 4th 6-7:15 PM Blue Rink PeeWees: March 31st 5:45-6:45 PM Green Rink April 3rd 7:15-8:15 PM Red Rink Squirts: April 2nd 6-7 PM Green Rink April 3rd 6:15-7:15 PM Green Rink Tryout Fee is $50. Due at sign up the first night of tryouts.
