  2. There are various types of martial arts, each of which has a unique purpose in combat. For decades, some of these types have been around while others have been built in more modern times. What all of these styles have in common is that they teach their followers a form of fighting and allow these people to defend themselves when necessary. These martial arts are also broken down into different sections, such as striking, grappling, and takedown styles, giving individuals the opportunity to learn a number of different disciplines along the way. I'm going to start looking at some that are probably more in the arena of sport than martial art these days. View: martial arts Boxing Out Because of its popularity as a sport boxing is one of the most well-known martial arts in the world. Boxing at the Olympic Games in Greece is believed to have started in 688 BC, as records show people punching each other at that time. During the same time period, boxing was also common in Rome, with combatants wearing primitive types of gloves and contents often ending in death. After the fall of Rome until the 1700s the sport decreased in popularity, as it became significant in England..

  3. This popularity continued and new rules to make it more of a sport were introduced. For example, a downed opponent's hit was forbidden, as were low blows. Eventually, the rules of the Marquess of Queensberry were introduced, outlining the ring, the use of gloves and many other rules that are still being used today. Flip-flop Full Contact Kick boxing evolved from elements of Thai-Boxing and other Martial Arts, the first bouts being held in the early 1970s. However, it seems to be lighter contact these days, with a great emphasis placed on the scoring points of light fast strikes.Click: karate Muay Thailand Sometime between 1238 and 1377 Muay Thai originated in Thailand, as it was prevalent during the Sukothai Era. Muay Thai has a few different aspects including kicks, punches, knees and elbows.

  4. Many practitioners also use a clinch as a means to expose an opponent to those strikes. Fighters use gloves and a good kick-boxer can effectively evade different strikes. This is a fairly new sport, as it was historically used for self-defense purposes, but it has become very popular in different places around the world in a short period of time.More info: kids Summary: We are a family-owned and operated martial arts school with over 25 years of teaching experience, both adults and children in Spokane Valley, Washington.
