  7. C o m m u n i t y F o u n d a t i o n “Ten suggestions for getting started…” • Inventory existing philanthropy and • foundation efforts. • Identify your area stakeholders. (e.g. attorneys, accountants, bankers, non-profit leaders). • Create a database of local charitable organizations, contacts & plans.

C o m m u n i t y F o u n d a t i o n “Ten suggestions for getting started…” • Brainstorm best practices and ideas to promote endowment and a “culture of giving” (e.g. book of honor and memory). • Consider affiliations and partnerships. (e.g. collaboration with “qualified community foundations.”) • Promote statewide philanthropy policy and tools.
