  4. What is Bible Quiz? A competition where clubbers compete against clubbers from other churches in how well they know the Bible verses and other material they have been memorizing. • Consists of boys and girls teams from each handbook • Covers the first four Discoveries/Challenges of each book • Oral Quiz (12 M/C questions) & Written Quiz (12 ques.)

  5. Objectives • To encourage clubbers in Bible memorization, review books. • Provide competition for clubbers to show Bible knowledge. • Give clubbers a greater love for a working knowledge of the Bible. • Everyone learns about salvation, so they can accept Christ.

  6. Why Participate? • Really strengthens and deepens the verses the kids have learned. • Motivates clubbers to make progress in their books. • Grows, strengthens and stretches your club, kids and leaders. • Interact with other churches, both leaders and kids. • Kids see that they are not alone in studying God’s Word and are encouraged. • Gives your high achievers a place to be challenged. • Gives your non-atheletes a place to shine.

  7. Teams • Boys compete against boys generally and girls against girls. Exception is when low numbers, then combine. • Each team consists of 1-6 boys or girls. • A ‘full’ team is 2 - 6 kids (max points available). • 2-4 kids do the Oral Quiz, two do the Written. • If a lot of boys or girls for a particular handbook, can split and have two teams for that book. • A single person can be a team but only half the points available.

Scoring Oral Quiz • Each M/C question worth 10 points • 12 questions = 120 points possible per clubber • Two clubbers per team = 240 total points possible Written Quiz • Each question worth 10 points but partial credit possible. • 12 questions = 120 points possible per clubber • Two clubbers per team = 240 total points possible Perfect Team score = 480 points

  10. Preparing Your Kids • Two to four practice sessions • Split up by handbook • Recruit coach/helper for each handbook • Note cards (flash cards) • Study guides • Practice questions – yes, homework! • Practice oral quiz, especially for first timers • Online quiz/questions

Tips and Tricks • Emphasize that they get out of it what they put in • Beware of ‘None of the above’ answers in Oral Quiz • Get parents involved – parents meeting before first practice, e-mails with copies of homework, … • Homework on colored paper to match book • Start small, maybe only observe the first year • Commander doesn’t have to be the coach • Don’t forget purpose is to deepen knowledge of the Word. That is winning. • Bring three volunteers to be scorekeeper, room monitor, paper corrector. • Invite 2nd graders & parents to watch
