  1. The Path to Phlebotomy Certification NC Phlebotomy is a crucial field of the medical industry. There is much demand for phlebotomy certification NC to begin a great career in the medical field. The term phlebotomy was created by the Greeks: ‘Phlebo’ relates to veins, and ‘Tomy’ refers to cutting. In ancient times, the art of phlebotomy was pursued to withdraw blood using various modes like blood cups, syringes, pumps, bowls, leaches, lancets, etc.

  2. However, modern equipment and best practices for phlebotomy are quite advanced. The current definition of phlebotomy implies an incision of a vein for gathering a blood sample for testing in labs or other functions that are restorative. Phlebotomists are blood collectors who also help in the collection of specimens apart from blood like sputum, tissues, urine and carry out clerical, technical, and clinical work. Their main job is to help health care medical groups in the safe and ethical collection and transport of specimens for lab analysis. There are some main functions in Phlebotomy: Vein puncture (from veins and not arteries) and Skin puncture (drawing capillary blood through safety needles), Diagnostic tests, Therapeutic evaluations, and Monitoring (judging the efficacy of treatment).
