  3. Austria‘s fair share 2030 DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHE UMWELTSCHUTZORGANISATION Austria has to deliver its fair share to reaching the Paris goals. By 2030 it is possible and necessary to: • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 % • Increase the share of renewables to 60 % (final energy consumption) • Reduce energy consumption by 30 % (final energy consumption)Rapid action needed on many levels and in all sectors. www.global2000.at

  4. Results of Energy and Climate Scenario 2030/2050 DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHE UMWELTSCHUTZORGANISATION Reduction of energy consumption by 50 % is a precondition for decarbonisation of the energy system in an ecologically sound way. www.global2000.at

  8. Preconditions policy framework#Mission2030 does not deliver DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHE UMWELTSCHUTZORGANISATION Target trias of #mission 2030 puts ecological sustainability (emissions reductions) first, but doesn‘t deliver. It fails on: • targets in line with Paris agreement • adequate policy measures to fulfill goals and give sufficient sectoral guidance, especially for large parts of industry • sufficient funds • political coherence www.global2000.at

  9. Policy demands DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHE UMWELTSCHUTZORGANISATION • Targets in line with goals of the Paris Agreement • An adequate national and EU policy framework (carbon price, AT energy law) • Decarbonisation roadmaps for each sector and certain big corporations • An ecological tax reform as a central driver of decarbonisation • Enough courage to set clear standards. E.g. new heating installations must be based on renewable and not on oil • An action plan for absolute reduction of energy consumption www.global2000.at
