  1. Monash DivisionQuality Improvement Committee (QIC) • Objectives • To establish a culture of quality improvement within the organisation and management of the division • To improve the quality of support services offered by the division to GPs and their practices • To support quality improvement initiatives within general practice

Role and Functions of QIC • Keep abreast of changes in GP policy environment and anticipate GP membership needs • Identify opportunities to ‘add value’ and quality to relevant government policy initiatives • Encourage GP participation in specific, well-defined quality improvement projects • Appoint GP Advisers and Working Groups with specific program-related tasks • Review the role of working groups in light of program development needs • Improve level of consumer engagement in Division’s programs • Make recommendations to the Committee of Management about the allocation of divisional resources

  3. QIC within Monash Division’s Organisational Structure 4 GPs (CoM) Chief Executive Officer Program Manager  Working Group composition: GP Program Adviser, GPs (up to 4, non-CoM), community rep, +/- practice staff/nurse rep, Program Coordinator, Program Manager

  4. Achievements to Date • Increased number of GPs involved in program management • Improvement in consumer engagement and participation • Improvement in internal systems • Improved coordination of support services to practices • Working Groups focus on practice-based quality initiatives • computer security audit, systems approach to cervical screening, vaccine cold chain maintenance.
