  2. What do we study in 7th grade social studies? We will be studying United States History from the causes of the Civil War, 1820, up to WWII.

  3. Curriculum By Quarter (estimated) • 1st Quarter: Causes of the Civil War, The Civil War, and possibly Reconstruction. • 2nd Quarter: The State Wide Election & the second half of the 1800’s: Industrialization, Immigration. • 3rd Quarter: The early 1900’s:, Progressivism, Imperialism, World War I. • 4th Quarter: 1920’s – 1930’s: the Roaring 20’s & The Great Depression. Possibly AZ Territorial & early Statehood history

  5. Classzone • Website connected to book to provide activities for quiz and test review: www.classzone.com

  6. Grading • Tests: 50% • Other Assessments (quizzes, projects, writing assignments): 20% • Class work: 20%                 • Homework: 10% • Homework in social studies usually consists of studying for the test or quiz, getting a test signed, or completing unfinished class work or a project (includes current events). • It should not take more than 15-20 minutes most nights. • Studying consists of vocabulary review (students should make flashcards, using the interactive reviews with their on-line book, and turning the statements in their notes into questions). It is NOT just reading over the notes

  7. Supplies for Social Studies • Pocket folder • Spiral Notebook • Pencil or Pen • Red Pen

  8. Learning Lab & Homework Club • Learning Lab is before school. Starts at 7:30 and is everyday Monday-Friday • Homework Club is during lunch and is usually reserved for students who are behind in work.
