The Five Themes of Geography • Location – Where is it? • Place – What is it like there? • Human Environment Interaction – How do people affect the environment and how does the environment affect people? • Regions – How does the region compare physically and culturally to other regions of the world? • Movement – How are information, ideas, and goods exchanged between people?

Geographic Regions • Africa(sub-Saharan Africa including the Great Rift Valley, the Serengeti, the Masai people, environmental concerns, conflict, and the collapse of apartheid in South Africa) • Asia(China, India, Southeast Asia, and Japan with focus on the role of communism in China, overpopulation on the Asian continent, life in Japan, and Indian independence with the contributions of Gandhi) • Latin America (Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America with specific attention on the current relationship between Mexico and the U.S., European colonial influences in this region, the Amazon rainforest, and the influence of the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans)
